see I go away for 5 days and look what happens .................(just when you thought I'd ran off for good huh I'm back  )

I personally like any input given as someone (infact two someones) will know. When I first sorted my kit out they pm'd me incase they'd offended (for the record it takes a lot even more and then some  and after the sights I've seen at pontins this week  mankinis should be outlawed  you lot are a walk in the park  )

Hopefully you've moved on from this discussion but I have seen theres been a bubbling undercurrent in posts whilst I haven't been online and picked just this specific one to comment on.

As has been mentioned I think 2 issues have become entwangled into one but hopefully they're sorted now? Am sure so long as any critisim eitherway between members and the organisers is constructive there shouldn't be an issue, however I would rather people squabble about it on pm rather than on here as I've lots to read and even more to unpack  and its too easy a distraction

I look at it this way:

I wouldn't turn up to a Blackhawk Down event in Brit DPM, I wouldn't turn up to a Falklands themed event in US SF gear. It's all about having kit thats likely to have been used in the specific theatre of operations. Hell, i'm currently putting together a Ramcke Brigade FJ impression for fun - but I wont be turning up to a NWE themed event in it (much as i'd love to - cotton is FAR more comfy for the summer!), as it simply wasn't used in the NWE theatre of operations.

With regards to criticism of kit itself, there is a fine line between constructive criticism and overt criticism - and in a lot of cases its difficult to tell the difference between the two, simply because it's the written word, therefore we miss out on an important facet of communication thats present when its a face-to-face conversation - body language.

My 2p on the subject....

spot on at the first game i attended someone kindly pointed out my mp40 pouches were hung wrong and showed me the rite way to ware them but im sure if they posted it on the forum it would not of come across the same way .i think you have to show a lot more tolerance on line as things can get misinterpreted very easily.

theres nowt so Permanent as temporary

I'm a bit of a stitch counter, I cant help myself. but there is a distinction that needs to be made between stitch counting and correcting mistakes. If you have gone the whole hog and invested in some good repro kit then you should do yourself and the uniform the honour of wearing it, and your belt kit, in something like a realistic way.

At least you recognise it!  Seriously, Mr Poacher very kindly sent me some kit advice in a PM, and I do think that is a good approach.

Actually I agree with you, we all are and like you would have I spent a long time researching my german kit.

The point I suppose is the tone in which advice is given as Kermit pointed out previously.

I'll give an example, and it relates to my own SS gear. PLEASE NOTE: I am only citing this as a example because i cant speak for anyone else and is not intended as a criticism of any particular person/s!.
I spent a long time researching a camo that would be effective for general airsofting and ww2. I hit apon oakA, and at first all i had was a smock but i realy wanted a whole uniform. After extensive internet trawling I found pictures and articles about ss camo. I found out that camo tunics werent standard issue, and that some officers and men had them made. I found two examples of SS men wearing insignia on their camo tunic, I looked at hundreds of pictures of cuff title positioning and read rticles about tunic fit etc.

I then took my decision to go for hohenstafen(no war crimes) Oak A (effective camo) insignia (looks great - bling factor, and found some examples so not entirely innacurate)
Slightly oversize tunic for my own comfort and to alow for middle age cuddliness.

I proudly displayed my kit on the forum:

1st comments were: "cuff title too high" ( they were incorrect), "you shouldnt have insignia on camo" (semi incorrect) and comments of similar ilk.
It did leave me feeling somewhat deflated - I felt i had to fight my corner amost immediately no-one asked if i knew what i was talking about OK we had a discussion about it which was fun and it didnt in the end bother me. But at that point i had only just joined the forum, I was rather proud of my kit and if i had not been made of sterner stuff I may well have thought "S

Feck stitch counting , if being anal about pretending you are a solider from 1944 then join one of the many re eenacting societies. Thats the place for OTT uniformness .

If your desperate to relive your army days then go join the TA !

Airsoft is about FUN . We are adults playing around with toy guns shooting each other FFS , lets get a grip here fellas and ladies. I love all the uniforms people turn up to our events in , and TBH it makes feck all difference to the day as long as people have made a bit of an effort and everyone has a good time. I personally find the 27th Panzer approach ot airsoft the most enjoyable, Yellow toppers all round !

FFS Have a laugh , lifes too short and too full of bullshit already ot turn a fun hobby into an anally serious & miserable experience inc this forum . You can go to ###### .....well..... you know the forum for that

So - The to next person found stitch naziing,

.....it is the duty of all forum members to post the word "Raspberry" after the offending post . With a bit of luck the more po faced will soon get the message and the rest of us can get on with having a laugh .

27th Pzrs FTW !
